3 Easy Ways to Freeze Strawberries: Method 2 - Dry Sugar Pack
THINGS YOU WILL NEED: Non-reactive bowl (basically anything not aluminum). Mixing spoon. Paring knife or strawberry huller. Measuring cup. Plastic freezer containers (I use pints).
  • Prepared strawberries (sliced, halved or whole)
  • Brown sugar
  1. Prepare strawberries by lightly rinsing to remove any dirt or debris and hull with a small paring knife or a strawberry huller. Slice, cut in half or leave strawberries whole according to your preference and place prepared berries in mixing bowl.
  2. Add brown sugar. Ratio of ½ to ¾ cups brown sugar to 4 cups strawberries depending on taste)
  3. Stir gently and allow strawberries to sit for 15 minutes until juice forms and brown sugar is dissolved.
  4. Place strawberries with their juice in clean containers leaving ½ inch space at the top for expansion of berries while freezing.
  5. Seal, label and freeze.
