This past week we picked all of our apples. It was a little earlier than we had planned. It came down to leaving them and letting the Elk have a party or picking them early when they were still a bit tart. Since Tim and I both like tart apples and we wanted a few to enjoy before the Elk ate every last one, we harvested.
Even with the few that we donated to the elk our three trees will give us plenty of apples to enjoy all year. I will put some in cold storage, make applesauce, freeze apple slices, and make apple pie filling. In honor of harvesting, this week’s review celebrates apples.
